For over 30 years, Flexi Narrow Aisle Ltd has been one of the world’s foremost manufacturers of very narrow aisle (VNA) equipment.

Flexi Narrow Aisle design, manufacture and market the award winning Flexi AC range of articulated forklift trucks at the company’s UK manufacturing plant and are distributed world-wide through a fully supported distributor network.

Since Narrow Aisle pioneered the Flexi articulated truck in the early 1990s it has gone on to become the most popular on the market.

Over 7000 units have been shipped throughout the world.

Over the past five years the Flexi AC range has been developed significantly and can now lift loads weighing up to 2.5 tonnes and to heights of over 14 metres.

Although Flexi Narrow Aisle’s clients are involved in the storage and handling of many different products – from FMCG, foodstuffs and beverages to automotive – they all share at least one common aim: the need to maximize efficiency within their warehousing operation by increasing throughput and making the most of all the space that is available.

1976

Narrow Aisle Ltd formed in Bilston, UK as niche developer of specialist space saving forklift solutions.  Rotareach model developed.

1977

The Rotareach Lateral Stacker introduced on BBC’s Tomorrow’s World, fills the market gap between bespoke turret trucks and reach trucks fitted with trilateral attachments.

1978

The Easipick man-up high level order picker developed allowing items to be picked from multi levels in the warehouse.  Range developed to include lift heights from 3 to 13 metres with various fork options and picking cabs.

1980

The Combi Rising Cab Lateral Stacking Truck introduced – high level visibility for fast safe load placement allowing customers to utilise Warehouse Management System and Bar Code Scanning. Range developed to include lifts up to 14 metres, two deep pallets and dual masts.

1987

New factory established at site at Great Bridge, Tipton.  Product range integrated with global supplier of warehouse intralogistics systems.

1990

Narrow Aisle Limited develops the Flexi FWD articulated truck concept, to provide a forklift to unload road vehicles and to work in very narrow aisles (V.N.A.) rack capability in one truck.

1991

Flexi Generation 1 series production commences, 2 metre aisle for 25% space saving over moving mast reach trucks.  More efficient work cycles. HiVIS Operator Overhead Guard developed.

1998

Flexi Generation 2 developed, provides smaller 1.8 metre V.N.A. aisle capability for 30% space saving over conventional reach trucks. Travel speed increased for more efficient work cycles in aisles.

2000

Development of ground breaking Flexi G3 design combining 1.8 metre stacking aisle, True Radius ® turning, HiVIS cantilever overhead guard, rear battery change and lift heights to over 10 metres.

2002

Flexi G3 assembly established at Tailift Asian and US Markets. Product introduced to Asia Pacific and South American Markets.

2004

Flexi introduced into all West European markets, 500th Flexi G3 produced at Great Bridge.

2005

FLEXI G4 1200 model introduced into the global market with safety features that conform to both US and European standards. Flexi G4 design wins BMHF Safety Award.  Cassette battery changing system, positive independent power steering introduced.

2006

Unique Flexi HiMAX developed for high bay warehousing – heavier loads and lift heights up to over 13M, fixed ‘space frame’ mast, integrated sideshift/ tilting forks technology and high definition CCTV/LCD vision systems.

2007

Flexi LITE 1000 introduced with lower tyre point loadings to allow unloading of ISO containers and semi-trailers. Significant contracts received from Turkey and USA.

2008

Flexi EURO 1000 introduced 1.0 metre wide rear axle and 220° rotation means Euro Alliance pallets can be handled to DIN13185 part 2 standard in 2 metre aisle (AST).

ISO (CHEP) pallets can be handled and transported at full speed in 1.8 metre aisle.

2010

Flexi VNA AC 1000 developed to allow existing VNA warehouses with 1.6 m aisles to operate with Four Wheel Unguided Articulated trucks for the first time. Flexi VNA nominated for FLTA Innovation Award. Flexi HiLOAD AC 1350 development for customers in the building materials, food and engineering industries who need to handle heavier loads to higher lifts and retain vehicle unloading capability.

Flexi AC Range includes as standard Zapi AC drive technology, Programmable AC Regen Braking with Independent ‘On Demand’ low noise power steering system and ‘whisper’ hydraulic operation .

Low turbulance hydraulic pumps, smooth low noise operation.

2011

Distribution agreements signed in India, Southern Africa and Korea, International sales grow by 50%. New 2.5 Tonne capacity Flexi HiLOAD chassis introduced allows customers to handle two pallets at once when unloading.  Laser Lift Height Selector System introduced.

2012

Cold Store protection down to -30° and full heated operator’s cabins developed for customers with high throughput operations.

2014

Flexi StorMAX two deep pallet concept introduced, aimed at the fast growing systems market where customers need to maximize the pallet storage density by using modern warehouse management systems (WMS).

2015

Flexi AC HiMAX 1400 model introduced, to provide higher lifts and greater pallet weight at all levels in the warehouse.  Laser lift height selector system and CCTV/LCD operator vision systems integrated into product. ‘Superframe’ heavy duty high lift masts developed to over 14 metres.

2016

Today the Narrow Aisle articulated Flexi range is available through a global network of Authorised Distributors, who are fully supported by the company.  Already established as Europe’s most popular articulated truck, Flexi is also firmly established throughout Asia and the Americas.

Flexi AC  Quad mast range developed, customers can now specify a perfectly matched ‘four stage’ lift mast for their Flexi, allows Coldstore low doors and semi-trailers to be unloaded easily and safely.

2017

Flexi Rental system short term un-contracted rental available on Flexi AC Range of products.

Flexi 'on line' Spares business launched, even faster availability of genuine Flexi parts.
